What We Store

The session cookie, normally named depth_session, identifies your browser session so Depth can maintain sign-in state and protect forms. It does not contain your password. It is normally kept for the browser session, although some browsers restore session cookies when reopened. Server-side sign-in permission expires after at most 14 days and may end earlier through logout, security changes, or administrative-session limits.

depth_cookie_notice remembers acknowledgment of the Cookie Policy. depth_training_risk remembers acknowledgment of the training-risk notice. These contain random receipt identifiers, not the text of your account or dive records. A copy may also be kept in your session to reuse a valid acknowledgment when you submit it again.

Signed-in athletes' appearance preferences are stored with their account rather than in a separate appearance cookie.

Necessary Cookies and Acknowledgments

Depth does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies, so there are no optional cookie categories to manage. Acknowledging this notice records that you have seen it; it is not permission for advertising or tracking. The training-risk acknowledgment is separate and does not make breath-hold activity safe. If optional cookies are introduced, we will update this policy and provide the choices required before using them.

Duration And Records

The cookie-notice and training-risk cookies are set with a one-year browser lifetime. Each receipt is valid on the server for up to one year from its recorded acceptance, or until the applicable notice version changes. Reusing the same receipt does not extend its server-side validity. You may therefore see a notice again even if a cookie is still present.

For each new acknowledgment, Depth stores its date and time, notice version, a one-way receipt hash, and one-way network and browser hashes. The record can also include your account identifier if you are signed in. Repeated submissions reuse a valid receipt rather than creating another acceptance record.

Scheduled cleanup removes acknowledgment records older than one year that are not linked to an account. Account-linked acknowledgment and safety records may be retained longer for security, dispute resolution, and legal purposes as described in the Privacy Policy. Cookie expiration and deletion of server records are separate events.

Other Browser Storage and Controls

The connections page uses browser session storage to remember its page path and scroll position during sorting and navigation. This is not an advertising identifier. The saved value is removed when restored and normally ends with the tab session, although browser recovery may restore session state. Browser site-data controls can also clear this storage.

You can delete or block cookies through your browser. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent sign-in, form security, or other site features from working. Clearing Depth's site cookies may cause notices to appear again. Deleting a browser cookie does not itself delete your account or the corresponding server record; contact us to request deletion of personal information.

Third Parties

Depth does not currently load third-party advertising or behavioral tracking cookies. Links to other sites are governed by those sites' policies.
